Activity Day Fun!

We had a fantastic Activity Day on Saturday, Dec. 6th! The children were dressed in either a pioneer vest or bonnet and learned a few things about pioneer children and their Christmas celebrations and traditions. The children played pioneer games:

And, their was a surprise visit from Santa Claus!

The children also made pomanders (oranges with cloves) which pioneers did often during Christmas time.

They decorated cookies, which they enjoyed eating as much as they did decorating them!

We also had a gift-wrapping station where the children wrapped new gifts they brought in brown paper and twine. These gifts were presented to a member of our Bishopric as a service project to needy families for Christmas.

And, the children made beaded Christmas star ornaments to help remind them to follow Christ's light, like the wisemen followed the Christmas star to find baby Jesus. We owe a big thank you to Bro. John Skaggs for reading some scriptures to the children and relating the story of Christ's birth, and the true meaning of Christmas, to the children.

The activity was a hit and I've heard several children tell me since then how much fun they had. We can't wait to do this again!
